Thanks to everyone for helping to make Ukulele Hooley 2013 the best we’ve had!

We were blessed by glorious weather and it was fantastic to see the Peoples Park packed with happy people enjoying the whole event
Thanks to all the fantastic artists for brilliant performances at the “Ukulele Hooley Concert” in the Peoples Park on Sunday – we were overawed by the generosity of spirit of you all.
Thanks to everyone (and there are many) who helped in so many ways to make it all happen.
Thanks to everyone who came to all the events over the weekend, Workshops, the Bus Busk, the Open Mic on Saturday night, and of course to the 8 hour “Hooley” concert in the Peoples Park!
A special thanks to all the friendly ukers who came from overseas – we loved having you and hope you’ll come to Ukulele Hooley 2014!
We’re all thrilled (and greatly relieved) that it went so well – just a bit knackered – but we’re really looking forward to seeing your videos and photos .

A special thanks to the folks at DLR Co. Co. who make the whole event possible with their support each year.

We are already being asked for the dates for Ukulele Hooley 2014 and as soon as we know – you’ll know!

The 2013 Ukulele Hooley Is On !

At last the sunshine is back so it’s that time of the year again – time to announce Ireland’s ukulele festival :

The Ukulele Hooley 2013 in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday and Sunday August 24/25

We have a grand lineup of ukulele artists from all round the world but as usual the whole emphasis of the “Hooley” is to have a celebration of the ukulele and a fun get together of ukulele friends from all over. Its going to be a weekend of ukulele fun and laughter…and a lot of wonderful music!

The Ukulele Hooley website is currently being updated and will be up and running in the next week so keep checking back.

So start making your plans to get yourself and your uke to the Ukulele Hooley By The Sea!

Don’t miss out :-)

Ukulele Hooley 2013

Tomorrow’s the 2nd Saturday of Ukuleles & Coffee @ Peoples Park, Dun Laoghaire

Ukuleles & Coffee  Saturday Mornings @ The Tea Rooms, in Peoples Park,  Dun Laoghaire

A good crowd of reasonably friendly looking ukers turned up last Saturday at The Tearooms in The People’s Park in Dun Laoghaire and were made feel very welcome by the genial host, Enda. A very pleasant couple of hours playing ukulele, drinking tea & coffee and general nonsense ensued and seemed to be enjoyed by all. General consensus is that it is a success so this is just a little reminder we’re going to be there each Saturday (including tomorrow)  So, if your around  between 11am and noon a group of us will be there enjoying the tea or coffee and fiddling with our ukes so why not come and join in.

So. there it is folks its completely informal so just drop by, starting  between 11 and 11.30ish and running ’til lunch

Ukulele Hooley By The Sea (Video by Tom Allard of Cigar Box Ukulele)

One of the great delights of ukulele festivals is meeting up with ukulele friends and it was wonderful to see so many at the Ukulele Hooley By The Sea. Tom Allard, an old ukulele friend from Michigan travelled all the way to Dun Laoghaire and was the life and soul of the festival!
He also made this wonderful compilation video of the festival, just enjoy!
