So I was pleased to get this recent email from Pat Meates that he’s organising a new fortnightly Ukulele Open Mike Night at MB Slattery’s in Rathmines. It kicks off this thursday and I wish Pat all the best. So if you’re looking for another opportunity to show off your singing/uke skills, give it whirl :-)

Hi Tony,
Just to let you know all the wheels are in motion to launch the Open Uke Night,woo hoo!!
The first night will be on Thursday May 23rd and fortnightly thereafter. The venue is upstairs at MB Slatterys in Rathmines,Dublin 6.
Bus routes from city centre are: 14,15, 65,83,140. There is also free parking in the street beside the venue after 7pm.
I would like to kick things off about 9pm on the night to have enough time to fit in all the uke players who turn up(hopefully lots)

The Ukulele Hooley 2013 in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday and Sunday August 24/25

We have a grand lineup of ukulele artists from all round the world but as usual the whole emphasis of the “Hooley” is to have a celebration of the ukulele and a fun get together of ukulele friends from all over. Its going to be a weekend of ukulele fun and laughter…and a lot of wonderful music!

The Ukulele Hooley website is currently being updated and will be up and running in the next week so keep checking back.

So start making your plans to get yourself and your uke to the Ukulele Hooley By The Sea!

Great news for the many Irish fans of the Ukulele Orchestra of Gt. Britain they will be appearing at the National Concert Hall in Dublin on July 25th, UCH Limerick 26th, Theatre Royal, Waterford 27th and finish off at the Cork Opera House on 28th. Tickets have already gone on sale and I’m sure they will sell out pretty quick so don’t miss out – book now !

The concert is being promoted by Pat Byrne (a member of UkuHooley).

Just recently came across Italian blues singer and uke player Blue Dean Carcione. Good bluesy voice and like the suitcase foot percussion :-)
