Earlier this year Joe Byrne our esteemed fellow UkuHooligan ran a very successful and enjoyable six week beginners course for ukulele on Saturday mornings at the Dun Laoghaire Club in Eblana Avenue , Dun Laoghaire.
Well, the good news is Joe is going to run another beginners course starting on Saturday October 12th so if you know anyone who wants to start learning how to play the uke, draw their attention to Joe’s notice below. Joe likes to keep the classes small enough so people can get proper attention so these places will go very quickly.

Thanks to everyone who came to all the events over the weekend, Workshops, the Bus Busk, the Open Mic on Saturday night, and of course to the 8 hour “Hooley” concert in the Peoples Park!
A special thanks to all the friendly ukers who came from overseas – we loved having you and hope you’ll come to Ukulele Hooley 2014!
We’re all thrilled (and greatly relieved) that it went so well – just a bit knackered – but we’re really looking forward to seeing your videos and photos .
A special thanks to the folks at DLR Co. Co. who make the whole event possible with their support each year.
We are already being asked for the dates for Ukulele Hooley 2014 and as soon as we know – you’ll know!
A happy group of Irish ukulele players turned up at the Stag’s Head last night to welcome Jim Rosokoff aka Dr. Uke to Dublin with his lovely wife Sari. It was a lovely evening of ukulele playing and socialising with Jim and Sari who are on their way to a cycling holiday (by tandem) in Spain. Jim chatted to us about how he started the Dr. Uke website which has helped so many ukulele players throughout the world and dazzled us with a few marvellous performances during the evening. He also told us this was the first ukulele group he had met outside his own back home in Glastonbury, Connecticut and we hope he may come back this way again on his travel’s – perhaps even be here for the “Hooley”.
My own iPhone refused to cooperate when I tried to record one of Jim’s performances but luckily Ray McCarthy was on hand and captured this Jim’s version of “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head” written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn.
