Here is George Formby’s last television performance on the 1960 TV programme “The Friday Show”.
He gets through quite a few of his favourites and its quite touching when you realise he died some months later.
Ok, Don’t take my word for it but here’s what bluesman Bob Brozman says about Azo Bell:
“Azo Bell is one of the most interesting and creative uke players around the world today. He’s a virtuoso musician who never fails to surprise and delight with his ever-changing ideas. His dedication to this humble yet challenging instrument is evident in the music he produces.”
And Rhythms Magazine says:
“Azo Bell is a master musician and a superb ukulele player. In Bell’s hands this modest instrument is an object of wonder. The Old Spice Boys can lift the heart.”
Check them out for yourself, some great performances by them on YouTube.
Benny Chong (Hawaii) performs the Hoagy Carmichael standard ‘The Nearness of You’ at the Melbourne Ukulele Festival 2012. Supported by Ben Robertson (Melbourne) on bass.

Really nice version by Dave Spangler and Tom Pallozola who are “The Whole Earth Ukulele Orchestra” …….AND are also “Fleabitten Dawgs”. These guys have style in their performance. (check them out on YouTube)
The Original Rude Boys are three young guys from Dublin who’ve been going their own way with their songs and in just one year have begun to make a name for themselves.
Yep, they have a ukulele player in there (from the beginning) check out their other YouTube videos.
Found this fantastic video from Jon Pak featuring his stunningly painted ukulele in the the style of Edvard Munch. Admired the work of artist “Moogly Moo” who’s made a speciality of painting ukes to order. So, if you’ve got all the ukes you wanted and fancied something totally original for yourself then have a look at her website, there’s great work there :
